GULU REGIONAL REFERAL HEALTH WORKERS PROTEST AGAINST MORTUARY BAD SMELL

The workers of Gulu regional referral hospital yesterday afternoon moved out and left the patients alone at the hospital clinic in protest against the bad smell coming from the mortuary.
The workers who were very angry said they cannot continue working in that condition threatening to close the clinic and send patients back home.
They claimed that the four unclaimed bodies which was brought by police took two week now in the mortuary and no one has come to claim it since last week and they are leaving them in suspense
Dr Apiyo Paska said the hospital informed municipal authority two ago about the four unclaimed bodies but nothing is done to date.
adding  that she  called Gulu municipal health inspector but did not respond well to them.
and  the hospital cannot keep dead bodies at the mortuary because their freeze is spoiled for three week now and they are working hard to fix it back soon.
However when contacted the principle municipal health inspector Richard Nyadru Anyana said he is not allowed to talk to media without town clerks authority.
George Labeja the mayor Gulu municipal council also said he is not aware of the rotting dead bodies at the hospital mortuary since he was not informed by the hospital administrator.
Emmanuel Mafundu the Gulu district police commander refuted that claim saying  police do not have dead bodies in the hospital.
